'Fear the Walking Dead' season 2: premiere speculated to happen in June 2016

 AMC

AMC's official blog has announced that "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 has officially entered production and is currently filming on location in Baja, Mexico. As previously reported, the series is now utilizing the same studio responsible for filming some of the most iconic ocean scenes in film such as James Cameron's "Titanic."

The studios have also promoted actor Colman Domingo, who plays the mysterious Strand, to a series regular, so it is safe to assume that he will play a larger role in the second season. Strand was responsible for saving the main cast of characters and it is his yacht that they are intending to use to escape the zombie apocalypse.

Production for season 2 is expected to be longer than it was for season 1 not just because the scenes will take place primarily at sea but also because season 2 will have a total of 15 episodes compared to season 1's 6 episodes. This will also cause the show to premiere earlier in the year than it did with its first season.

Season 1 premiered in August of this year since it was only a few episodes in length. Once it was over, AMC launched season 6 of the flagship series, "The Walking Dead." If the studios will follow suit again with one show premiering right after the other finishes, then "Fear the Walking Dead" will likely premiere in the summer.

According to a report from Den of Geek this most likely places the premiere date for "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 sometime in June 2016. This, however, creates a large gap in between the two shows and in order to adjust this, the season might premiere by the middle of July.

Until AMC announces an official premiere date however these still remain as pure speculation.

There are no full-length trailers to ease the wait but AMC did release a teaser a while back showcasing the cast discussing what they expect to happen in season 2. The video can be viewed here.
