'Fallout 4' news: Bethesda announces 3 big DLC packs

Fallout 4 - Wasteland Workshop DLC Bethesda Softworks

Bethesda Softworks has officially unveiled the first three DLC packs coming to their hit action-RPG "Fallout 4." The three DLC packs will release one month after the other, with the first one launching this March. All three are included in the "Fallout 4" season pass.

The first of DLC, detailed on Bethesda's official website, is called the "Automatron" expansion and will introduce more robots into the game. The main villain is said to be a robot overmind and players will be able to take other machines apart to build their own robotic companion.

"Automatron" will also allow players to customize their weapons, even changing the way the weapons look via modifications and other custom parts. This fully embraces Bethesda Softworks' support for the modding community.

The second DLC expansion, coming in April, is the "Wasteland Workshop." This pack will give players far more tools to customize their settlement such as taxidermy kits, lettering kits and lighting kits. It will also allow players to capture monsters in the wasteland and then use them in gladiator-like fights or to use them as companions.

"Far Harbor" will be the last of the three announced DLC packs and is said to be the largest. It will introduce a brand new location, the titular Far Harbor, and its story will focus on the synth Nick Valentine. According to Bethesda's post it will see players hunting for a lost woman and a secret colony of synths.

While not a part of the DLC packs, the game will also see a revamped survival mode and other patches along the way.

"Automatron," when purchased separately, will cost $9.99 while "Wasteland Workshop" will cost $4.99. "Far Harbor" will be the most expensive DLC pack as it will cost $24.99 individually. All of them are included in the game's season pass.

However, with the DLC packs being more expansive than previously believed, Bethesda has announced that starting March 1 the cost of the season pass will increase from $29.99 to $49.99. Players who have already purchased the season pass for $24.99 will not have to put in more money as this is Bethesda's means of saying "thank you" to their fans.
