'F1 2015' release date; game to feature new broadcast style and more

F1 2015 Codemasters

According to the official F1 video game website, "F1 2015" will be hitting the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this June. UberGizmo reports that it will be released on June 12, planting the game in the middle of a summer release schedule.

Developer Codemasters confirmed via a report from Realty Today that last-gen console owners will not be able to play the game as it is only being developed and released for current-gen consoles.

According to a report from Latino Post, the new Formula One video game will introduce several new features that will justify the title's shift to current-gen consoles. One of the main highlights is the game's use of a brand new broadcast system.

The official website states that the "opening sequences, grid sequences, on-track celebrations and of course the podium champagne" will be voiced by the official Sky F1 commentators Anthony Davidson and David Croft. Lee Mather, principal game designer, explained in the report that hundreds of thousands of lines were recorded. All of these recorded lines not only ensure that there won't be frequent voice over repetitions but it also guarantees accurate commentaries for every move and results per race in the game. The commentators will sound more natural instead of sounding redundant and obviously recorded.

UberGizmo also reports that voice integration will be implemented via the PlayStation Camera and the Xbox Kinect peripherals. These tools will allow players to ask the game regarding the weather, race specifics, and even ask for a tire change during a race.

A new physics engine is also being implemented and this will be paired with an improved AI system that Codemaster promises will make players feel like they are racing against humans instead of a programmed computer. This means even AI-controlled vehicles will make mistakes and use tactics often done by human players.

"They'll make moves a human would," Mathers explained. "They might suddenly switch sides in a braking zone in order to pull off a pass, lock up and just make the apex - but then light up their rear tyres due to the compromised exit."
