Exciting times for Christian skaters

In the last couple of months the extreme sports ministry has obtained charity status and have been very busy at skate parks and festivals throughout the summer.

These included assisting as volunteers at the NASS Festival in Shepton Mallet in July. This was a great way of building up relationships with the organisers, riders, and industry personnel.

Christian Skaters UK members were also involved at all three Soul Survivor festivals, where they were helped in team leading the ‘Lift’ venues, as well as Creationfest (North Cornwall), the Nailsea Community Skate Festival, and Greenbelt.

Over the weekend of September 12 and 13 they will also be present at the Jesus Surf Classic, in Croyde North Devon, partnering with Christian Surfers UK.

Building on the success of the previous two years, this year’s Christian Skaters National Conference aims to unite and equip leaders and individuals involved in ministry to the skate culture (including skate, BMX and rollerblade/inline skaters). The conference will have a packed programme including worship, inspiring talks, practical sessions, and the opportunity to use the skatepark.

The conference will be held in the excellent facility at the Factory Skate Park, Dundee over the weekend of 6 to 8 November 2009.
