'Empire' season 3 spoilers: Taraji P. Henson confirms one character will be killed off

 FOX

"Empire" will premiere its third season this coming September but not everyone is going to make it out alive. In an interview with Extra, actress Taraji P. Henson confirmed that someone is going to get killed off in season 3 although she did not confirm who exactly is about to die.

"Yeah, someone dies," she stated in the interview. Unfortunately for fans, the actress gave no further hint at who might have died and only suggested that fans watch the show. "They send us the script and then everybody's calling each other like 'What? What? What?' and then you have to wait till September 21."

Although she did not confirm who dies or hint at anyone's identity, a report from the IBTimes has pointed out there are two likely candidates. Back in the season 2 finale Anika (Grace Gealey) and Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) were seen fighting on the balcony and this could continue in the season 3 premiere, where one or both might fall off the ledge.

Andre (Trai Byers) arrived right at the very end of the finale episode and then the camera cut away from Anika and Rhonda to focus on Andre's surprised and horrified face, hinting that he just witnessed someone get killed. This makes it very likely that either Anika or Rhonda will be the person that Henson referred to.

However, there is always the off-chance of a different character dying and nothing can be guaranteed until Fox releases a trailer to reveal the identity of who may have died.

Henson, who plays Cookie Lyon in the series, has also been nominated this year for the Emmy Awards, garnering a nomination in the category for  Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Regarding this the actress claimed that she was not yet ready for something as monumental as earning an Emmy.

"Empire" season 3 premieres this Sept. 21.
