'Elder Scrolls 6' release date may come soon with possible 'Skyrim Remaster'

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Bethesda Softworks

"The Elder Scrolls VI" has been rumored for a long time but developer Bethesda Softworks has yet to make an official announcement. However, a report from Eurogamer reveals that Bethesda may be releasing a PS4 and Xbox One remaster of "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" and this may indicate that "Elder Scrolls VI" will quickly follow.

The remaster is said to come with mod compatbility, all official DLC packs and improved visuals that take advantage of the stronger processing power of the newer consoles. Mods usd to be solely for the PC version of video games but Bethesda has successfully implemented mods for the console editions of "Fallout 4" and this may be applied to "Skyrim."

If the rumors push true then it is possible Bethesda is preparing the market for the next title in the series. It has been five years since "Skyrim" was originally released and it has been some time since the last expansion for "The Elder Scrolls Online." Re-releasing "Skyrim" will put the game series back into the forefront.

"Elder Scrolls 6" has been rumored to be a direct continuation of "Skyrim" and if this is true it will be the first game in the franchise to do so. Other rumors suggest that the game will be set in Argonia, the home of the lizard-like race, or may be big enough to cover several areas of the entire continent.

Fans speculate that if a remaster of "Skyrim" releases some time this year then "Elder Scrolls VI" may be launched by 2018 or early 2019, several years following the launch of "The Elder Scrolls Online."

Gaming media site Gamespot did attempt to get a word from the developers but the Bethesda representative merely explained that they do not respond to rumors and heresay. If any of the rumors are true then fans of the franchise will need to wait for an official unveiling at this year's E3.
