Ed Sheeran new album in 2016 to go up against Adele's '25' at 2017 Grammys?

Ed Sheeran has been busy for some time with the world tour for his second album, "X," but the artist is already at work on a third studio album. According to a report from Youth Health Magazine, the third album already has the potential of winning next year's Grammy Awards but it will be competing directly against Adele's "25."

Adele has been known as a Grammy Award mega-star, winning multiple awards for her music, and the artist even won an Academy Award for her song "Skyfall," which served as the theme to the James Bond film of the same name. Both Adele's "25" and Sheeran's third album fall under the same Grammy category, which means only one of them will win the award.

Last year, Sheeran addressed the possibility of going up against Adele. He stated, "I don't know if I'm brave enough to go up against her. I don't know if it's going to last forever. I know this third record will be better than anything I've ever done. I might fall off on this record, who knows? But I'm positive this will be the real big one."

Sheeran's claim that the third album will be the best piece he's made thus far in his career was reiterated in his latest Instagram post, where the musician gave a brief update about the album while also announcing he will be avoiding his phone and all social media for the time being.

While Sheeran's Instagram post indicated the artist wants to spend less time staring at an electronic device and more time experiencing the world, it also hints that Sheeran will be spending more time in the studio as well, working and editing the third studio album, which is expected to launch before summer of this year.

As previously reported, one of the new songs can be heard in the film "The Brothers Grimsby" but cannot be downloaded digitally until the full album has been released.
