'Driveclub' PS Plus Edition pushed back; Evolution buys more time to repair server issues

How will the game be saved? Facebook

Ever since the announcement of Driveclub, fans have only been receiving saddening news about the highly-anticipated racing game. And sure enough, they have not been spared of more of it this week.

The promised Driveclub PS Plus Edition will be 'on hold'. This was not a surprise as developer Evolution Studios has only been busy fixing the servers and everything in between to be able to have its 'patient' players connect with a decent log-in to the game. Ever since the "Driveclub" launch, access to game content was barely attainable.

In a post on the official Driveclub Facebook fan page, Sony Computer Entertainment World Wide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida apologized for the deferring of some free PS Plus Game offers to PS4 users.

"With the high volume of new players and additional server load the PS Plus Edition is anticipated to bring, we are currently not confident that we can guarantee the best online experience. Until we can ensure that everyone can enjoy the full social connected online experience, we will be postponing the release of the PS Plus Edition until further notice," Yoshida wrote.

"On behalf of WWS we are enormously grateful for your patience and we thank you for the continued support and encouragement. Again, we sincerely apologize for the delay. We are committed to giving you the best racing experience on PS4 – it's taking a little longer than we hoped," the Sony boss added.

Evolution Studios has been bringing everyone up to date with its efforts and progress in the past few weeks. The team is now buying more time (which was initially thought uncalled for) to recover and restore what should have been a revolutionary racing experience.

When Yoshida broke the news of the delay, he gave his word that 'Evo is working around the clock to close the gap' and necessary engineering resources were already set out to 'resolve the remaining issues as soon as possible'. In a nutshell, the Sony big man requests fans to put up with a prolonged patience and to allow more indefinite waiting.
