'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2' news: new trailer reveals some new features to title

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Bandai Namco

Bandai Namco has launched a brand-new trailer for the upcoming fighting game "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2," the follow-up to the 2015 game. As stated in a report from Gamespot, the trailer not only confirms the October release date but also reveals that a much-requested feature is finally making it into the game.

As stated in the report, the trailer confirms that custom player characters will now be able to transform into Super Saiyan 3 mode, a highly powered Super Saiyan phase that grants near unlimited power and strength but for a very brief period only. In the original manga and anime, very few characters could achieve this transformation.

In the anime, Super Saiyan 3 was limited to Goku and Gotenks although some of the non-canonical movies have shown Gogeta transforming into Super Saiyan 3 as well. It is also stated that the Majin Buu-empowered Vegeta has the same level of power to some degree and the Legendary Super Saiyan, Broly, is stated to be even more powerful.

The report also points out that the trailer also reveals player customers will also be able to perform the Final Kamehameha attack. In the anime, only Vegito and Gogeta can do this as it is a combined power attack of both Goku and Vegeta, which is why only their fusion character can perform it. This will no longer be the case as player characters can now add it to their list of available powers.

Grammy-nominated DJ Steve Aoki is also confirmed to be featured in the game. He will be contributing to the game's music and as an NPC within the game itself. It is undetermined if his character is merely as a cameo appearance or if he may function as an NPC merchant or guide.

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will launch for the PS4 and Xbox One on Oct. 25 and a PC release is going to follow on Oct. 28.
