'Downton Abbey' Season 5 spoilers: Filming halfway, Joanne Frogatt speaks up

"Downton Abbey" season 4 ended back in Febuary in the U.S. and everyone feels like it will take eternity before season 5 comes back. But there's news that season 5 will be coming sooner than expected.

The doors of the "Downton Abbey" set are closely shut and there's very little news surfacing about the upcoming season. Thanks to Joanne Froggatt, "Downton Abbey" fans are no longer clueless.

In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Froggatt (who plays Anna Bates) was asked how far along they are in shooting season 5. She answered "Just about halfway. We finish filming at the end of August." This confirms that season 5 filming will be done sooner than later.

What about the characters and Anna Bates' rape incident? "I haven't seen all of the scripts yet, but nearly all. Some things from season four carry over into season five. It's not just resolved and they move forward with their lives. They're still struggling to deal with what's happened to Anna. It doesn't simply resolve and disappear," she answers.

For information sake, Anna Bates was raped in season four by a valet named Green. She kept it as a secret until her husband discovered the truth. Green was killed and her husband may be the killer.

Hollywood Reporter asked if her husband is indeed the killer, she answered "Well, I couldn't possibly comment on that! But time will tell."

The rape storyline is something Froggatt had to prepare for. But she was glad to share that a fan sent her a letter, thanking Julian Fellowes (creator of "Downton Abbey") for writing the storyline and Froggatt for playing the role. "She felt for the first time that she wasn't alone after watching Anna's story. If one person felt like that, then I totally stand behind what we did," describing the fan letter.

Hopefully, there will be more reveals as we all wait for "Downton Abbey" to come back. As of the moment, there is still no word about the official release date too.
