"Doctor Who" season 8 has ended, but the good news is that fans of the show will be treated to a Christmas Special before the long wait for season 9.
Talks about the Christmas special have been going around since season 8 concluded, but there were no exact details about it back then. Now, the title of the special has been revealed. It will be called "Last Christmas." A photo for the episode has been released, too.
Den of Geek made a sly remark about the special, saying, "It's unclear whether the Doctor will be giving either of his two hearts to anyone, but you can be sure that, if he does, it will be given away the very next day."
True enough, there have been no further details about the plot or the story. But "Doctor Who" fans know that Christmas and Whovian culture tend to come up with something awesome during the holiday season. In the past, there were tragic romances and regenerations. So, what do fans think showrunner Steven Moffat has in mind for the 2014 special?
Meanwhile, Peter Capaldi shares his joy about playing the role of The Doctor. Given that he is a new doctor in the TV series, it's a wonder how Capaldi is dealing with the pressure as well as the popularity. According to McClatchyDC, the 56-year-old actor is having a wonderful time playing the time-traveling alien.
"I get up at half-six in the morning," he said, "and by 7 o'clock I'm fighting Daleks, running down corridors, skipping down ventilation shafts. That's a great way to be living your life at this age, I think."
Apart from being happy about his role, he is also happy about how the fans have accepted him as the new Doctor.
"When people see you... They are always very pleased to see Doctor Who so I get more smiles and affection than I would be normally," Capaldi shared. "You have a real sense of how much the show means to those who love it."
However, Capaldi did point out that he can no longer walk down the street without being noticed. Loss of anonymity was the trade-off. When asked if the fans are happy with an older doctor, considering the two previous doctors were in their 30s and 40s, he assured that having a younger doctor is stranger for the avid fans.
Furthermore, the Scottish actor is excited that season 9 is entering its pre-production phase already, although he is ready if he will no longer play the role.
"There's always a part of me that's waiting to be (told) 'you're not Doctor Who anymore,' so I'm always very relieved when they're telling me that 'we're starting again very soon," he said.
