"Detective Pikachu" was originally released in February of 2016 for gamers in Japan. However, recently, The Pokemon Company announced the game would be getting a worldwide release in March 2018. In "Detective Pikachu" a boy named Tim Goodman chances upon a Pikachu who can talk. Realizing that they understand one another, the two team up to solve cases surrounding different Pokemon.

The game will be coming to the 3DS and a trailer for the release was uploaded to the Official Pokemon YouTube Channel's YouTube account on Jan. 12.

The trailer begins with Tim running out to meet a Pikachu. He apologizes for being late, but the Pikachu merely answers in its usual squeaks. Confused, Tim turns around to find detective Pikachu disappointed that Tim would mistake another Pikachu for him. He then starts to speak in a deep voice.

Comical intro aside, the game goes on to say that "Detective Pikachu" will be a Pokemon game like no other. It then goes on to show montages of detective Pikachu sifting through files and drinking coffee, all while declaring that he is one great detective.

"Detective Pikachu's" gameplay is also very different from previous Pokemon games before it. Similar to the "Ace Attorney" series, "Detective Pikachu's" gameplay requires players to gather clues and piece together the pieces in order to come up with the correct answer.

There is the police to contend with, conspiracies to crack, and lots of laughter to experience along the way.

The official synopsis on the video states:

"Get ready to tackle cases in Detective Pikachu, coming to the Nintendo 3DS family of systems in spring 2018! With this tough-talking, coffee-drinking, one-of-a-kind Pikachu by your side, you can talk to witnesses, hunt for clues, and uncover the secrets of Ryme City."

The summary posted also included a link to the game's official page. The official page contains a longer version of the synopsis alongside additional info regarding "Detective Pikachu."
