'Destiny' Microtransactions offered with new racing mode

Sparrow Racing Bungie

More microtransactions are now available in "Destiny."

With the arrival of the game's Sparrow Racing League event, Bungie has also announced that more items related to the new offering are now also being made available in "Destiny."

The new items in question are available at "Destiny's" in-game store Eververse Trading Company, Gamespot reported.

The new items being offered at the in-game store don't look as though they will necessarily be needed to participate in the Sparrow Racing League event.

Some of the items players can purchase include new emotes specifically designed to help demonstrate what it feels like to emerge triumphant from a race as well as a new record book. "Destiny" players can also opt to purchase toolkits that can be used to help design better Sparrows and even functional horns.

Players who want to take part in the Sparrow Racing League Event will have to do so soon as it is scheduled to end on Dec. 28.

In order to gain access to the Sparrow Racing League event, "Destiny" players will need to make their way to the Shipwright hub inside the Tower and then look for a new non-player character (NPC) by the name of Amanda Holliday. Players can proceed from there.

The new Sparrow Racing League event introduced to "Destiny" is reportedly part of Bungie's grand plan to change the game's model.

In an interview with Eurogamer, "Destiny" senior designer Derek Carroll talked about how events such as the Sparrow Racing League figure into the game's future.

According to Carroll, Bungie now wants to feature a more events-based model for "Destiny" and that includes the currently available Sparrow Racing League and the previously featured Festival of the Lost.

When asked about what type of "Destiny" events players may be able to look forward to in the future, Carroll indicated that those details are being kept secret intentionally and that fans will simply have to wait and see for themselves.
