'Destiny 2' release definitely in the works

 The Destiny Blog

Launched late last year on both current and next generation consoles, "Destiny" continues to surge along as one of the best space shooters today. With already 16 million registered users across the globe, the game ranks among the top 10 largest video game launches of all time in the United States.

What's next for this title? Since developer Bungie signed a multi-title contract with publisher Activision, and since the two companies have agreed on a 10-year lockdown exclusivity, a second installment for the much-acclaimed title is definitely on the horizon.

Although the companies are still keeping mum about specific details for the second "Destiny" game, it has been rumored that the sequel will come out in 2016. The excitement is further stirred by comments made by Bungie Community Manager David "DeeJ" Dague.

In an interview with IGN in December last year, Dague explained, "For 'Destiny 2,' the idea is that the Guardian that you have created is something you can bring along with you on that adventure. If you take a look at the way people have played other games for a long period of time, they've had a relationship with the same character for a very long time."

Art designs will also be revamped for "Destiny 2." Dague shared that he saw the concept art for the new game, and add to that, new, exotic weapons.

He said, "It's a lot of fun to walk around the studio because there's always somebody thinking about visions for the future. The next place you'll go, the next enemy that you'll fight, the next thing you'll earn for doing those things."

Meanwhile, Bungie continues to better the original title. With the expansion pack "The Dark Below" already released and "The House of Wolves" set to be rolled out in the second quarter of the year, there are now speculations regarding the third DLC. A leak reported by VG 24/7 back in January lists the alleged content for "Comet: Plague of Darkness," which will reportedly come September this year. It is said to cover 12 stories, four strikes, one raid and a new location, and six PvP maps. There is also bonus content in the order of new subclasses and weapon types. Additionally, two upcoming DLC packs are said to be released after, with details and release dates yet to be announced.
