Demi Lovato can't thank her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama enough for all that he's done for her. The singer, who has been very candid about her struggles with bipolar depression, bulimia, and drug addiction, said that along with rehab and therapy, the one thing that saved her life was the love and support from the "That 70's Show" alum.

"He never takes credit for my sobriety, but I guarantee I wouldn't be alive without him today," said the 22-year old on Thursday, May 28, in an interview with HuffPost Live to promote bipolar awareness.

Speaking out about her latest mental health awareness campaign called Be Vocal, Lovato aims to help other bipolar sufferers avoid the pitfalls she went through on the road to recovery. The singer said that she was dealing with bipolar depression and didn't know what was wrong with her. Unaware that she had a chemical imbalance in her brain, Lovato told HuffPost that she ended up self-medicating and coping with "very unhealthy behaviors."

Lovato said that she chose to seek treatment over the last several years after family and friends approached her for an intervention.

"Happiness is a choice," she said. "I don't want to be miserable anymore. I deserve to live a life better than this. Now I live well with bipolar disorder."

Her boyfriend of five years is one of her top supporters and Lovato said that she is so proud of their relationship and, whenever possible, wants the world to know how amazing he is.

"We're in control of what we're able to post online and we're very open about our relationship," she said of their romantic shots on Instagram.

Meanwhile, engagement rumors are heating up for the couple as OK Magazine reports that they are secretly engaged. Friends of the couple reportedly told the magazine about the secret engagement, saying that they are very excited for the two. Reps for Valderrama and Lovato have yet to confirm the rumors as of the moment.
