'Deadpool' movie plot: Colossus to be portrayed by Andre Tricoteux

From Ryan Reynolds' Instagram account Instagram

"Deadpool" has just finished production and while many of the cast members are posting congratulations on Twitter, actress Gina Carano, who portrays the mutant Angel Dust in the film, revealed in her post that Andre Tricoteux is indeed playing the metal-skinned mutant Piotr Rasputin a.k.a. Colossus.

"You're the best #Colossus a person could ask for Andre," posted Carano.

This also confirms that Andre was the tall man seen wearing a full-body motion-capture suit while filming exterior scenes with Ryan Reynold's Deadpool and Brianna Hildebrand's Negasonic Teenage Warhead a.k.a. The NTW.

According to a report from Cinema Blend, there is speculation that Andre's voice might not be used for the character. The report cites a more recent example in  "Guardians of the Galaxy" where Sean Gunn did the motion-capture performance for Rocket Racoon but the character was then voiced by Academy Award-winner Bradley Cooper.

Daniel Cudmore as Colossus as seen in X-Men: Days of Future Past 20th Century Fox

The report also confirms that the voice actor for Colossus will not be Daniel Cudmore, the actor who played the character in "X2: X-Men United," "X-Men: The Last Stand," and "X-Men: Days of Future Past." The actor announced via Twitter back in March that the role was being recast.

Fox has not yet confirmed or denied if Andre's voice would be used in the film or if they were indeed looking for a different talent to dub Colossus' lines. Fans have suggested that it may be possible Daniel Cudmore could be brought in if only for voice work since the Colossus in "Deadpool" is the same mutant seen in previous "X-Men" films.

"Deadpool" tells the story of Wade Wilson, a former high-profile special forces member who gains super powers such as enhanced healing, agility and  super strength after a rogue experiment scars his body for life. Now named Deadpool and equipped with a morbid sense of humor, Wilson hunts down the men responsible for ruining his life.

"Deadpool" is set for release in theaters on Feb. 12, 2016 followed by "X-Men: Apocalypse" on May 27, 2016.
