'Dead Rising 4' release date, news: new 33-minute teaser video released

"Dead Rising 4" will launch for the Xbox One and PC this holiday season, and it will introduce numerous changes and improvements. A brand new, 33-minute teaser video has been released to showcase many of these elements and to reveal what will remain from past entries.

The video starts with the returning protagonist Frank West making his way back to the Willamette Mall. However, the mall has been updated with new sections, but the same goal remains: to take photos and rescue survivors trapped in the mall.

It turns out, however, that this version of the mall is merely in his head as Frank discovers he is merely having a nightmare. To further prove this point, the store names are labeled "No One Likes Your Dumb Pictures Anyway" as well "Failure," indicating that even at this point in his life Frank is still insecure about his career.

In the video trailer, he also encounters a ghastly version of himself. Each time the real Frank catches up to the ghost version his weapon changes. IGN reports that the developers made this choice in the intro as it would allow players to try out different weapon combos right at the beginning of the game.

The report also reveals that the photography aspect has been updated as well, and now, Frank can take a selfie with his camera. He can perform a special shot called a Stealthie, in which he insults a zombie by taking a selfie with it right before he kills it.

Polygon also reports that since Frank is being roped into the zombie outbreak by the military, this time he will be given an Exo suit. This suit will grant Frank the power to punch or kick enemies and use weapons that are normally too heavy for him to lift.

"Dead Rising 4" will release for PC and Xbox One this Dec.
