Dad or personal taxi?

Halford's Autocentre is suggesting that kids give their dads the day off after its survey found that the average dad spends an entire year driving their kids around before they leave home.

According to the survey, dads clock up an average of 25 miles and 2hrs 16 minutes of driving time a week ferrying their kids to and from school, sports and social events.

That's more time than they spend in the garden, on DIY or even in the pub. The only activities that take up more of their time are work and sleep.

A fifth of dads even admitted to undertaking a journey of over 100
miles for their kids, and 7% over 200 miles.

In the 18 years before their children leave home, dads will have driven around 23,400 miles - the equivalent of a trip around earth.

The cost in petrol works out at around £3893 and if dad were charging for his time, he'd be due a year's salary of £33,012.
