Churches Advertising Network launches Christmas 2007 campaign

This year's Christmas advertising campaign from the Churches Advertising Network (CAN) has been launched with the slogan 'Everyone Deserves a Chance'.

The campaign will concentrate on the theme that everyone has been given a second chance by God through Jesus Christ.

It will also offer access to the popular Second Life online virtual community, where people can visit an 'island' and discuss Christmas and other spiritual questions, as well as view an animated Nativity film.

Previous CAN campaigns have created international media interest, with last year's poster showing Jesus' face in the foam of an emptied beer glass. In 1999 a poster was launched showing Jesus outlined in the classic Che Guevara pose with the words 'Meek, Mild: As If' underneath.

This year's campaign will also be promoted through posters and a series of radio adverts that will reveal voicemail messages left by 4 people, including a drug addict and a former burglar, who have been given a second chance.

Rachel Farmer, who created the campaign, said "The Second Life phenomenon is an area where people are meeting and communicating and we thought it would be good to put some Christian presence there, especially after the success of the Jesus profile on MySpace last year."
