Christians will see God's amazing grace once they're no longer blinded by pride, says Ben Seewald

There is a fine line between self-confidence and pride, says reality star Ben Seewald from the cancelled TLC show "19 Kids and Counting."

Self-confidence is a virtue but pride is a sin against God, Seewald says.

However, he says Christians still need to reflect on occasion whether or not they are already being too arrogant over their achievements. "As Christians, we need to check God's Word," he writes in the Seewald Family Blog. "God hates pride. Pride steals what rightfully belongs to God and attempts to give it to someone or something that is utterly unworthy of it."

The big problem Christians deal with is the fact that today's culture fosters pride, therefore confusing people about its merits. "We live in a prideful, arrogant culture where pride and self-confidence are praised as virtues," Seewald says.

Christians should always remember that despite people's achievements, it is still God who gives the gift of life. God keeps people breathing, makes their hearts beat, and makes them sane, he says.

Jessa Duggar's husband adds that Christians should always look up to Jesus Christ, since He is "the ultimate example of humility."

"The more we focus on Jesus' perfection, the more we will realise how far we fall short. We will be truly humbled, and that is exactly where God wants us to be," Seewald says. "The joy of this is that once we are no longer blinded by pride, we can actually see God's amazing grace and love for us, and walk in close fellowship with Him! Let this be our goal daily: To see more of God and to fix our attention on His glory! We will never become humble people by continual focus inward."

"Instead of sinful and deceptive self-confidence, we can have God-confidence, living our lives boldly in faith to God. Christians should be courageous and confident people because we can claim the promise of Romans 8:31: 'If God be for us, who can be against us?'" he says.
