My fellow husbands, are you thinking of ways to get your wife to love you more? If you are, then I have something simple to share with you:

You've got to love her.

Getting our wives to love us back

Guys, we all want our wives to love us more. We long for them to respect us, to treat us better, and to love us more. The Bible teaches us that the best way to do that would be to love our wives better. The Lord Jesus Himself told us in Luke 6:31,

"And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise."

If we want our wives to love us, we've got to love them. In this article, we will talk about the best ways to love our wives, enough to make them want to love us better.

Loving according to God's standards

Friends, here are a few ways to love our wives, according to God's word in Ephesians 5:25-33.

"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband."

1) Be a Christ-like husband to her

The Lord Jesus Christ was, is, and will always be the perfect role model of a husband who loves unconditionally. We were sinners when He came to save us (see Romans 5:8). He sacrificed Himself for our sakes without complaining (see Isaiah 53:7). He always welcomes us and will never drive us away (see John 6:37).

We ought to love our wives like that.

We should love our wives unconditionally. We must always be willing to sacrifice ourselves for our wives' sakes. And we must love our wives and embrace them, no matter what.

2) Think of her needs, not just our own

If we are to love our wives like Christ loved us, we ought to think of their needs and not just our own.

Many wives complain about their husbands' selfishness. As Christian husbands, we must strive to think of our needs last, and our wives' first. Though we are the leaders in our homes, we are also servants. We ought to serve our spouses.

3) Faithfully and consistently shower her with love

Lastly, we must realize that loving our wives is a lifelong pursuit. We start showering our wives with love even before marriage, and this shower of love must continue until death do us part.

Christ came to earth bringing God's love, died loving us, and rose from the grave and commanded us to preach His gospel of love to all men. We should love our wives that way, too: from start to finish, without holding back.
