Christian Bible Society Behind Mysterious Billboard Campaign

It has been revealed that a mysterious poster campaign which featured advertisements on billboards and bus shelters has been run by the Bible Society, a Christian charity dedicated to spreading the messages of the Bible.

The organisation’s "EastEnders" media campaign which has been running for the past couple of weeks has challenged the people of Bristol to vote on a series of dilemmas with striking bright posters designed to underscore the relevance of the Bible to the problems of daily life.

The adverts have asked the local residents to discuss, debate and vote on EastEnders’ plots, and has invited them to register their ‘yes’ or ‘no’ votes through their campaign website at www.getthestory.co.uk or by text.

The campaign was designed to relate Biblical themes of love, trust, and forgiveness to everyday lives and to highlight that these themes are often portrayed in modern soap operas.

"The Bible Society’s poster campaign asks fundamental questions of each one of us," said Rob Cotton, campaign officer of the Bible Society. "When we stop and think about the storylines in soap operas like EastEnders, they are exploring themes which are explored in the Bible. The campaign challenges us all to consider how the Bible’s message can connect with our everyday lives."

New ways of exploring the Bible’s relevance to modern day life will be offered to the public by the Kaleidoscope campaign. Events exploring culture, life and spirituality will be promoted to support media adverts and to discuss issues. Over 80 events will be held from now until 8 June to give residents the chance to explore the ideas behind the media campaign. More information on the media campaign and Kaleidoscope events can be found on the website: www.getthestory.co.uk.
