Choirboy turns pop

A 10-year-old chorister at Chapel Royal, Hampton Court, has just released his own pop single.

Arthur describes "Where are You?" as a dance and pop track. The track is available for download at iTunes

The multi-talented chorister was taught classical guitar at the Royal Academy of Music from the age of seven but has more recently acquired a taste for the rock guitar. He also plays piano and drums.

"I love my guitar and, even though it's still far too big for me, I made my mum buy it for me out of the money my godmother gave me to go towards my future, when I was born," says Arthur.

"That was when I was eight and knew that I wouldn't be playing classical guitar for much longer."

Arthur has also been learning Pro-Logic at the Rhythm Studio in London's Kensal Rise, and is studying classical theory.

His musical inspirations include classic rockers Queen and The Rolling Stones, as well as his older brother Simon Franks, who is part of the electronic music group the Audio Bullys.

Arthur's mother, Times religion correspondent Ruth Gledhill, said: "Like many boys of his age, Arthur is addicted to X-Factor, which he enjoys, mostly, for the people who can't sing and for Simon Cowell's outspokenness.

"He's quite a prolific song writer and once he gets an idea in his head, he can't stop until he's written it down or it's on the computer in some form."
