'Castle' season 7 spoilers: Season to explore what happens if Kate and Rick were not together

The seventh season of "Castle" speculates on what could have been if Kate and Rick did not meet each other.

"Castle" has this upcoming episode entitled "Time of Our Lives," written by prolific writer Terri Edda Miller. It was previously speculated that the episode will narrate how Rick and Kate get married. However, series star Jon Huertas (Esposito) told TVLine:

"The first couple [episodes] can't bring too much comedy ... But this 'alternate universe' is classic Castle, where you mix a great procedural crime with comedy."

Season 6 ended with Rick's (Nathan Fillion) horrible car accident while he was on his way to his wedding with Kate Beckett. A mysterious car was tailing Rick's car that caused the accident. This cliffhanger episode is where the next season will pick up.

According to the spoilers, Rick's bride-to-be, Kate, will try to get the bottom of everything and will conduct her own investigation to find out who was behind the accident as she thinks that it was planned.

Previous reports also claimed that Rick's car crash will not be resolved right away. It will take a few episodes to be answered. It seems that the story about the accident will be given resolution in the two-part episodes.

Meanwhile, Rick and Kate will get married next season after the accident. ABC is hushed and careful not to spill any detail about the postponed wedding. However, rumors strongly suggest that the two will get married in season 7. This is backed up by show creator Andrew Marlowe's statement to TV Line.

"We have something planned that we're kind of excited about, and we hope that people come back and play along. We know that we owe them a wedding that accurately reflects who Castle and Beckett are," he said.

"Castle" season 7 will be back on air on Sept. 29, 9PM on ABC.
