Peter Parker aka Spider-Man will be making his debut appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe via the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War." It was widely believed that he would only be making a glorified cameo but according to Screen Crush, the character's full run time will approximately be about half an hour.
Screen Crush's Mike Sampson posted this revelation via Twitter when asked to verify the rumors of Spider-Man appearing for 30 minutes in the film. According to Sampson, the character appears out of costume as Peter Parker for a good 10 minutes and then in costume as Spider-Man for the remaining 20 minutes of the movie.
As stated in a report from Cinema Blend, it is important that the post reveals that there is time dedicated to both Spider-Man in and out of costume as it proves that the film will spend some time delving into his character's story development instead of just throwing Spider-Man in to fight and then leave.
It will also give audiences their first real taste of the new Spider-Man, who is now played by Tom Holland. This will be a reboot of the character following the earlier attempts by Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. It is also pointed out that from this point on, MCU characters such as Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) may be appearing in stand-alone "Spider-Man" films.
In the original comic books, Spider-Man is the man in the middle of the conflict as he first sides with Iron Man before switching over to Captain America's (Chris Evans) team. In the film adaptation it is expected that Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) is taking this position, so Spider-Man's role in the film has yet to be revealed.
However, it is clear that he will begin on Iron Man's side as indicated by his appearance in the trailers. This new tidbit from Sampson reveals that the character is going to make an appearance in more sequences than the climactic battle.
"Captain America: Civil War" opens in theaters May 6.
