'Captain America 3' spoilers: Jeremy Renner may return as 'Avengers' Hawkeye

The latest rumors for the forthcoming "Captain America 3" have been centered on the possibility of Jeremy Renner joining the cast.

Renner, who was featured in the fourth installment of the "Bourne" series and will appear in "Kill the Messenger," is widely known as superhero Hawkeye in the first "Avengers" movie.  He will reprise this role in the second installment, "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

In an interview with MTV, the 43-year-old actor answered questions as to whether he would prefer to take on his own Marvel movie for Hawkeye alone.

"I'm happy to be the ensemble. I'm not scratching or clawing to do a solo movie by any means," Renner stated. "I think he's a utility guy that can bounce around into other people's universes a little bit, especially like 'Cap 3.' "

By mentioning "Captain America," the possibility of Hawkeye playing an important role in the upcoming film in 2016 has already become a trending topic.

Looking into the reports of CinemaBlend, "Captain America 3" directors Joe and Anthony Russo are said to have been making arrangements for the inclusion of a couple more Marvel superheroes in the third Captain America movie. While they have already incorporated Black Widow into the story of the second movie, the Russo brothers have stated that they are already finished with their plans of including selected characters in their screenplay.

Nonetheless, Joe Russo did mention that he would wish to see a "crossover" of heroes and universes in their upcoming films.

"When I started collecting, The Secret Wars was one of the first books I ever bought, so that's always been an obsession of mine to see something of that scale done – a crossover," the director shared. "I don't know if that would ever be possible, with all the different situations at the studios. But I would love to see a lot of characters on screen together."

With various rumors about other superhero characters possibly joining the third installment of the "Captain America" film series, fans can still look forward to the confirmation of new cast members who are to join the lineup before "Captain America 3" hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
