'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3' news: Double weapon XP confirmed for this weekend

Following the "Double XP" weekend, Treyarch is again offering "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" players an opportunity to gain more for less. In an announcement via Twitter, the game developer confirmed that it would be launching a "Double Weapon XP" this weekend.

The event will run from 10 a.m. PST Thursday, Nov. 26 and end by 1 p.m. EST Monday, Nov. 30. As the name suggests, it will only double the amount of experience points for weapons but not for the multiplayer character. Earning twice the amount of experience points will make it easier to accomplish all the challenges for each weapon.

As pointed out in the Twitter announcement, doing so will give players a better chance of acquiring the diamond camo for each gun. However, as pointed out in a report from Attack of the Fanboy, not all the challenges require farming weapon XP but by attaining certain fears such as hitting a number of headshots.

PlayStation Lifestyle reports that the "Double Weapon XP" event has been confirmed to apply to zombie weapons as well even though the zombie mode is not the main aspect of the game, ensuring that every aspect of the game has been taken into consideration with no game mode left out this coming Thanksgiving weekend.

This event will officially close the special bonuses for the month of November but it is likely Treyarch has something planned for December, particularly around the Christmas or New Year weekend. It is also noted that the developers have been keeping their player base quite busy since launch with multiple weekly events.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is the latest in the "Call of Duty" first-person shooting games and was launched this past Nov. 6 for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and PS4. The game is notable for its single player campaign, which is now set in 2065, and its use of high profile voice actors such as action-star Katee Sackhoff and Christopher Meloni.
