'Bones' season 11 spoilers: Booth and Brennan go undercover as cowboys in episode 9

After a short hiatus, "Bones" season 11 will return with a two-hour mid-season finale encompassing episodes 9 and 10. Episode 9, titled "The Cowboy in the Contest" will see Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) go undercover and participate in a shooting competition.

As shown in the promotional trailer for the episode, Booth and Brennan will have to go undercover in order to solve a recent murder case where the suspect is believed to be a gun-shooting expert cowboy. The trailer then showcases Brennan talking her way into a duel, which is most likely to be a part of the aforementioned competition.

Design & Trend points out that the two will not be going undercover as a couple and instead will be posing as complete strangers. This will be a little bit of a departure from the method Booth and Brennan utilize in similar cases and it is also hinted that Booth is more enthusiastic about the job than Brennan is.

While Brennan and Booth are busy posing as cowboys, Angela (Michaela Conlin) and Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) will spend their moments in the spotlight discussing the future of their family. Simultaneously, Camille (Tamara Taylor) will be getting closely acquainted with a photographer named Sebastian Kohl (guest star Gil Darnell).

As of the time being, Kohl is listed as a guest star on the show and it has yet to be seen if his budding relationship with Camille will lead to him being promoted as a recurring character or even as a future series regular.

The second half of the mid-season finale will dive right into episode 10, titled "The Doom in the Boom" and will involve the investigation surrounding the murder of a police officer. The episode will also bring in guest star Sara Rue as behavioral analyst Leslie Green as she is brought in to help identify who the cop-killer could be.

"Bones" season 11 episode 9 will air this Dec. 10 and will immediately be followed by episode 10.
