Executive producer Steve Molaro recently revealed that Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) are indeed tying the knot in the premiere episode of "The Big Bang Theory." A few promotional images were released via TVLine which hint at plot points the episode, titled "The Matrimonial Momentum," will address.
The first image shows Penny and Leonard all dressed up, indicating that this scene may be taking place right before the wedding. Penny doesn't seem particularly happy and this hints that they are still arguing about the affair Leonard had a few years back, which he admitted as they were heading to Las Vegas for their impromptu wedding.
More intriguing, however, are the photos showcasing Amy (Mayim Bialik) being comforted by her friends Bernadette (Melissa Rauch), Howard (Simon Helberg), and Stuart (Kevin Sussman). There is one image of them shutting Sheldon (Jim Parsons) out the window and another of them talking to Amy in Howard's kitchen.
Season 8 ended with Sheldon and Amy breaking up right before the former could show an engagement ring and reveal his intention to propose. The cause of their breakup was Amy pointing out that their relationship had become stagnant just as Sheldon confessed his dilemma of whether or not he should watch "The Flash."
There is also one image of Sheldon and Amy talking to each other outside of her apartment door, indicating that the episode will see the two finally having a face-to-face conversation despite Amy shutting Sheldon out in the season 8 finale.
Unfortunately, the images do not yet showcase any resolution regarding Raj's (Kunal Nayyar) issue with his girlfriend Emily (Laura Spencer). In the season 8 finale, he confessed his love instead of admitting that he was having difficulties with her obsession with blood and gore, in order to avoid a break-up at the cemetery.
"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 premieres this Sept. 21.
