'Big Bang Theory' season 9: Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting hints at Leonard and Penny's wedding

The Big Bang Theory season 8 CBS

Actress Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, who portrays Penny in "The Big Bang Theory," was recently interviewed by Entertainment Tonight where she detailed that they have shot a few episodes thus far and she was also able to give a slight hint regarding the relationship of Penny and Leonard (Johhny Galecki).

Back in the season 8 finale, the two were on their way to Las Vegas for an impromptu wedding when Leonard killed the mood by admitting he had an affair a few years back during an expedition. Fans have speculated whether or not the couple will push through with their wedding, and Cuoco-Sweeting's response seems to have answered the debate.

"Between Leonard and Penny, all the dreams came true for me. I'll put it that way," explained Cuoco-Sweeting. "I've been waiting many seasons for it."

Logically, she would be dreaming of the two staying together and getting married, which hints that the next season will see the two characters finally tying the knot. This goes in line with a previous casting update which indicated that Leonard and Penny would indeed get married early on in the season.

This doesn't mean that Leonard's affair isn't going to go away overnight, however. As previously reported, Melissa Tang has been cast to portray Mandy, the girl Leonard kissed while conducting a science expedition at the North Sea. She won't be making an appearance until after the premiere episode, which is when Leonard and Penny are expected to wed.

Cuoco-Sweeting did explain that she doesn't know all the details as the writers and show runners haven't revealed everything to them at this point. However, they have begun shooting and the actress stated that season 9 is still as funny as ever.

"We've shot a couple episodes, and it has been amazing right out of the gate. I even think the next one we shot is funnier than the first one we shot," she stated. "It answers a lot of questions. We're off to a great start."

"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 premieres this Sept. 21.
