Bible Society Brings Biblical Riddles to Manchester

A new campaign has been launched across Greater Manchester to draw attention to the relevance of the Bible to daily life.

Across all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester, billboards, bus shelters, trams, buses, taxis, and even beer mats will be the target of a visual campaign comprising of seven different biblical riddles, each one containing a headline with a missing word.

The initiative is being run by the Bible Society of England and Wales with the support of over 250 churches across the city to help people re-engage with the Bible in a positive way.

The campaign will try and bring an even greater participatory approach to outreach by encouraging people across Manchester to search for answers to the riddles in the Bible.

Sue Green, 'Riddle of Life' representative in Greater Manchester, explained, "With the Riddle of Life competition, we're trying to encourage people to scratch the surface of the Bible and discover its relevance to everyday life.

"From cowboy builders to menopausal mums, cheating wives to debt-ridden dads, the Bible has it all."

Green added, "The initiative offers people the chance to have fun, learn a little something about the Bible - and even help a charity of their choice into the bargain. It's all based around the biblical principle that it's better to give than to receive."

Those who can solve all seven riddles stand the chance of winning a £7,000 windfall - not for themselves, but for a local good cause.

Bible Society has explained that the eventual winner, selected at random, will get to choose which charity, hospital, or school from the region they would like to benefit from the prize.

Several hundred events, including a fashion show, theatre productions, and community fire sculpture, will run alongside the competition to show people how relevant the Bible is.
