Beyonce shocked fans when she posted a photo of her short pixie hair cut on Instagram last night.

The 31-year-old debuted her brand new hairdo, sparking a social media frenzy. Photos of Beyonce's new hairdo have gone viral within hours of it being posted.

The photos show Beyonce with her blond pixie haircut looking into the mirror and checking out her new style. By the look of the photo, the 'Halo' singer looks satisfied with her new look, which is drastically different from her usual flowing locks.

One image has garnered over 350,000 likes on the singer's Instagram account, and all three photos have over a million likes.

Most fans seem to approve her new haircut, as they gave positive reviews on her Instagram page.

Beyonce is well-known to be a diehard weave user for years, and fans have been left shocked at the dramatic new style. Some have immediately compared it to Rihanna, who has shown off a shorter hair look for many years now.

But Beyonce's new hairdo is stirring a hype on social media –as it is reminiscent of Miley Cyrus, who famously chopped off her locks for a short blond pixie hairdo in August last year.

Whether or not fans will make a rush to hair salons to imitate Beyonce's new short hair remains to be seen. When Halle Berry first cropped her hair short for her film Boomerang, hundreds of women had flocked to hair salons to copy the haircut.
