'Better Call Saul' season 3 release date: Plot jumps from the past to future

 AMC

"Better Call Saul" season 3 will see the return of Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) and this appearance of a character that plays a crucial role in "Breaking Bad" is rumored to cause a sudden shift in the way "Better Call Saul" will tell its story.

According to Master Herald, the show will not just focus on telling the events from the past, which "Better Call Saul" primarily relies on. Instead, the third season will be switching back and forth from the past and the present. The present, in terms of the show, relates to the aftermath of the "Breaking Bad" finale.

It is further stated that the new segments set after "Breaking Bad" won't focus on Walter White (Bryan Cranston) or Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) but instead will focus primarily on where Jimmy McGill aka Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) had gone and what he may be doing now that their business had crumbled.

The report also states that series show runner Peter Gould explained during the recent Vulture Festival that season would further showcase Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman but this transformation would not be as extreme as how Walter White transformed into the criminal he was at the end of the series.

The mixture of the past and present may form inconsistencies with the two shows but this is something that the show runners also addressed.

"I don't think anything is predetermined. Even with 'Breaking Bad' we had a story that was set up from the beginning: Mr. Chips turns into Scarface. This show we have Jimmy McGill becomes Saul Goodman, which in some ways seems not as extreme of a journey, a different kind of journey," explained Gould.

"Better Call Saul" season 3 currently has no official premiere date but the series is expected to release by Fall 2017 as this has been the release date for the previous two seasons.
