'Better Call Saul' season 2 plot: trailer showcases new locale

The first season of "Better Call Saul" ended with Jimmy McGill aka Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) returning to Albuquerque, New Mexico. The latest teaser trailer for season 2 brings audiences back to the original setting while also introducing a new locale -- a Mexican restaurant complete with performing Mariachi band and bar fights.

As pointed out in a report from Cartermatt, the series is no stranger to Mexican restaurants as key locations. In the original "Breaking Bad" series there was a key event that occured in one such restaurant, focusing on Walt (Bryan Cranston), Hank (Dean Norris) and Marie (Betsy Brandt).

The restaurant featured in the "Better Call Saul" trailer, however, appears more somber than the one in "Breaking Bad." As the camera surveys the rest of the area it showcases two men starting a brawl and others playing pool. Eventually the camera pans to Jimmy himself drinking by the bar right before his phone begins to ring.

It is important to note that the phone Jimmy is using is likely one of the top models during the time period the show is set in. Showcasing how Jimmy can now afford to buy gadgets such as this may hint at how profitable his business has become. Fans also speculate that the trailer teases that he may be using the Mexican resto-bar as his base of operations.

The report does point out that very little in the series happens by accident and the trailer focusing on the Mexican restaurant is there for a reason. It is further speculated that this location may be featured prominently for a few episodes in season 2.

"Better Call Saul" season 2 will first premiere on the US cable network AMC by Feb. 15. Episodes will then later be available for streaming on Netflix starting Feb. 16. The streaming giant will release each episode on a weekly basis, after they air first on AMC.
