'Better Call Saul season 2' spoilers, plot: First photos emerge

Better Call Saul season 2 AMC

"Better Call Saul" is currently in the middle of production in Albuquerque, New Mexico and although no script leaks or plot points have emerged, two official photos have been released to the public via Twitter. One image is from behind the scenes while the other focuses on Bob Odinkirk's Jimmy McGill aka Saul Goodman.

The first image showcases series creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. The two appear to be watching a scene being filmed, which is a photo meant to let fans know that season 2 is indeed underway. However, it is the second shot that is drawing more attention from fans.

At first glance, the second still image seems to just focus on Jimmy McGill but upon closer inspection, it is obvious that he is being backed to a wall by two unidentified men. According to a report from Collider, these two could be anyone, from hired mobsters to government officials and possible clients.

One thing that is sure is that these two are not Bryan Cranston's Walter White and Aaron Paul's Jesse Pinkman. There have been constant rumors of these two popping up in the prequel series but a report by NY Daily News says it was confirmed that their cameo appearances won't be in season 2. It is likely they will pop up sometime in the future.

The black suits and white collar of the two unidentified men do make them appear like FBI agents but it is also entirely possible that they are well-to-do mobsters seeking Jimmy McGill's help.

Season 2's plot has not yet been revealed in detail but given how Jimmy McGill aka Saul Goodman appears in "Breaking Bad" as a lawyer willing to commit murder, it is likely that this season will dive deeper into the events that turned the once good-natured Jimmy McGill into the dark and sinister lawyer that Walter White and Jesse Pinkman partnered with.

"Better Call Saul" season 2 is scheduled to premiere in 2016.
