General Zod (Michael Shannon) was briefly seen in the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" trailer but according to a recent report from Vulture, actor Michael Shannon revealed that Zod might not look exactly as he did in "Man of Steel."
Relating an incident that told readers how his character had changed, Shannon said he was stuck inside a porta-potty on the set and could not open the doors because his hands were stuck in prosthetic appendages.
"I was in my costume, and I couldn't use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands," Shannon explained. "So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn't open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder, the director] being like, 'Where's Shannon? Where the fuck is he?' and the whole crew was standing around."
Shannon was eventually rescued by the craft-service employee.
The actor did not elaborate on his role in the film, however, and stated that he has not yet seen the trailer and has no knowledge of what he would be in the finished film.
"Well, I haven't seen the trailer either, so I don't know what I am in the trailer. I could be a toaster, or a Porsche, I don't know," he explained.
However, there are numerous rumors spreading across the Internet that Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) will take Zod's corpse and transform it into the villain known as Doomsday. Doomsday is known to comic book fans as the monstrous villain that succeeded in "killing" Superman.
While numerous reports, including the one from Vulture, speculate that Zod might have been grown Atlantean features — a nod to Aquaman (Jason Momoa) — it is also possible that these flippers are for green-screen effects and will later be edited to showcase his body slowly turning into Doomsday, as pointed out in a report from /Film.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" opens in theaters on March 25, 2016.
