'Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice' plot, cast: DC Entertainment reveals Tao Okamoto's role

Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves Warner Bros.

Actress Tao Okamoto has a few scenes in the trailer of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" but her character was a mystery. However, an official video from DC All Access has revealed that she is actually portraying Lex Luthor's (Jesse Eisenberg) bodyguard and assistant, Mercy Graves.

Rumors of Okamoto playing Mercy Graves have circulated through the Internet since the trailer broke out from the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con but this is the first official confirmation that the character is indeed in the film.

Mercy Graves debuted in the 1996 "Superman: The Animated Series" and was voiced by Lisa Edelstein. The character was later incorporated into the comic books. Okamoto's portrayal marks the first time the character appears in a live-action medium.

It appears in the trailers that she will be handling most of Luthor's affairs and given how well the actress handled action sequences in her past films, it is likely she will go toe-to-toe with either Superman (Henry Cavill) or Batman (Ben Affleck) as either one may try to directly oppose her boss.

Okamoto's most prominent role is in "The Wolverine" where she portrays the lead female character Mariko Yashida opposite Hugh Jackman as the Wolverine. She also played the character Chiyoh in the NBC television series "Hannibal."

ComicBookMovie also notes that this casting news confirms that the body of General Zod (Michael Shannon) is within a LexCorp facility because Macy Graves is present in the scene where his body bag is unzipped.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne with Jason Momoa coming in for a cameo appearance as the superhero Aquaman.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
