Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially unveiled the details for its latest third-person action role-playing game called "Code Vein," due to be released in 2018.

Reports reveal that the upcoming game will require players to take on the role of futuristic vampires called Revenants who need their bloodsucking skills to survive.

According to the game description that was posted on the game developer's website, "In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world as we know it. Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity's past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood."

However, the game developer also warned that players who will allow their bloodlust to take over their lives will be in danger of turning into the fiendish ghouls called Lost, a group who completely forgot what humanity is all about. Those who will become Lost will not stop until their thirst for blood have been satiated.

Bandai Namco also revealed that players must come up with their own customized character and choose their playing partner in order to face all the challenges in the game. The pair must combine their strength to coordinate all their moves and cover each other from random surprise attacks from their enemies.

Players will also get their chance to experience the power of blood as they utilize the game's exclusive Blood Veils to drain the power of their enemies and enhance their own with the power that they could siphon from their foes. They can also reportedly use "Gifts" that were powered by their enemy's blood to increase their strength.

The game developer is expected to reveal more announcements about "Code Vein" in the coming days.
