Awards celebrate best in Christian broadcasting

The new-look Christian Broadcasting Council Awards have celebrated the very best in Christian broadcasting.

The BBC, Channel 4, Revelation TV, God TV and UCB Worldwide were among the winners at the recent ceremony, hosted by Tim Vine.

CBC Chair Olave Snelling praised the scope and variety of entries to the 2011 awards.

The award for the best production on a small budget of under £5,000 went to Producer / Director Matt Day for Meet the Pastor by Spaghetti Media.

The DVD KJB – The Book that Changed the World by film-maker Norman Stone scooped two major awards: Gold for the Best Production over £5,000 and The Fred Grossmith Award for the Best Christian Film / DVD.

"The awards exist to celebrate and promote Christian values in the mainstream and to encourage independent Christian broadcasters to reach ever greater heights," she said.

"We were celebrating excellence in Christian content and calibre in performance across such a broad range of programme types that it hit us between the eyes afresh what talent there is around. Keep your eyes on the media – because the Christians are coming!

"We congratulate the Award winners - from the biggest budget productions down to the smallest - for their passion and devotion in producing such an array of brilliant material. We bless the broadcasters in their endeavours."
