'Avengers: Infinity War' cast, trailer: debut of Captain Marvel before solo film appearance

Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel will have her own solo film set to release in May 2019 but the character may be making her debut before then. According to Heroic Hollywood's Umberto Gonzales, the character is set to appear first in 2018's "Avengers: Infinity War" part one.

Speaking to Pop Boom, Gonzales explained that Captain Marvel may have already been cast and that the actress portraying the character will be making an appearance later this year at the Marvel Studios set in Atlanta, Georgia, where they will be filming "Avengers: Infinity War."

It was previously reported that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige may be preparing to make an announcement soon regarding the casting of Captain Marvel given that the studios will be using the character before the year is over. This is also widely seen as a hint that the character will appear in "Avengers" prior to having her own film.

As stated in a report from Cinema Blend, this means that the audience's first glimpse of the character will be during the Avengers' fight against Thanos (Josh Brolin) and may skip the details regarding her origin story. Her origin may later be shown in flashbacks during her solo film.

This has been the same style that is being used for several other MCU mainstays such as Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman). This prevents the MCU films from wasting too much time exploring their origin stories, allowing their individual movies to dive right into the core story arcs.

Timing is also a key factor to consider. The solo "Captain Marvel" movie will be released in between the two parts of the "Avengers: Infinity War," hinting that she may be given more time in the spotlight in the second part now that the audience would have two films to acquaint themselves with her story.

"Avengers: Infinity War" launches on May 4, 2018 while "Captain Marvel" releases on May 8, 2019.

Umbero Gonzales' report can be viewed at the 25:28 mark.
