'Arrow' season 4: Roy Harper returns

"Arrow" season 4 will return on Jan. 20. The CW

Actor Colton Haynes previously stepped down from his role as Roy Harper in "Arrow" and in his place Thea Queen (Willa Holland) took up the mantle as the Red Arrow. However, the latest promo trailer for "Arrow" season 4B reveals that he will be back and this may not spell good things for Thea.

The trailer showcases Roy returning and while Oliver aka Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) is a bit shocked at the return of his former sidekick, Roy's ex-girlfriend Thea is more than pleased and this may hint that their relationship will continue forward. However, a few scenes into the trailer and it is now Roy donning the suit of the Red Arrow.

A quick scene also showcases Thea in the hospital. Thea was previously in danger when she was killed off in season 3, only to be brought back to life via the Lazarus Pit. If she dies now then there will be no means to bring her back. This has led to fans speculating if it is Thea in the grave.

Whether or not Thea dies, she will be out of the fight for some time and this may lead to Roy taking up arms once again as the Red Arrow. It is possible that his return will only be for this one episode or for as long as Thea is in the hospital, but there is a possibility he will stick around longer than expected.

According to a report from EnStarz, the official synopsis reveals that Roy isn't the only one coming back. Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law) will be returning as well for some unfinished business. At the same time, Team Arrow will also have to deal with the villain known as the Calculator (guest star Tom Amandes).

"Arrow" season 4B has already kicked off with episode 10, "Blood Debts," but Roy Harper's return isn't set to occur until episode 12 titled "Unchained" which airs this Feb. 3.
