Willem Dafoe has been confirmed to play the role of Nuidis Vulko, one of the major characters in "Aquaman's" storyline who will also be making a splash in the upcoming DC hero ensemble movie, "Justice League."

According to The Guardian, Dafoe has explained that his cameo role in the upcoming ensemble movie will be setting the mood for "Aquaman" in a big way. His portrayal will, in some ways, dictate how the next film's story goes and will be the starting point of the plot.

"Well, 'Justice League' is very particular because it's an ensemble movie and my character is being introduced here in order to be a principal role in 'Aquaman.' These films are a different experience. They have different responsibilities, different resources and different intentions. It's nice to go between those worlds if you can. They serve different impulses," Dafoe tells The Guardian.

He did not mention exactly how he's going to influence the plot, but experience in seeing the actor can give clues. Knowing which character he plays can be the first clue to understanding his role in the 2018 "Aquaman" movie.

As per Comic Book, Vulko's character is described as a cunning and manipulative being. There are times in the story when one would think he's on the side of righteousness, only to find out later that his actions are for his personal gain. A good example is when he cleverly orchestrated an uprising led by Aquaman to dethrone his half-brother Orm. This wasn't out of virtue, but out of ambition.

The description is somehow seen in previous roles he played, like Norman Osborn or the Green Goblin in "Spider-man" and Peter Van Houten in "The Fault in our Stars." He did justice to the parts he played by making audiences believe he is a good guy, then betrays them, or even the other way around. Fans can probably expect that in his role in "Aquaman."

"Aquaman" is expected to premiere on July 27, 2018.
