Apple Back to School 2015 promo: free Beats Solo2 headphones for Mac buyers

Beats Solo2 Wireless Headphones - Blue BeatsByDre

Apple has just announced via their official rebates page that they have officially launched their 2015 Back to School promo. Customers will be given a free pair of Beats Solo2 On-Ear Headphones — valued at $200 — with any purchase of Mac products. Customers may also opt to upgrade to the Beats Solo2 Wireless Headphones for only $100.

This offer is eligible for a purchase of a MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac Pro. No current Back to School promos have been announced for purchases of an iPhone or iPad product as of the time of writing.

According to a report from Apple Insider, the promo is currently only available in official Apple retail stores and in select campus retail stores. It will be available on the Apple online store and via the 1-800-My-APPLE hotline until Aug. 6. The promo will run until Sept. 18, and is currently being offered only in the U.S. and in Canada.

According to French blog site Consumac, the promo will become available in the international market by Aug. 6 and 7. Quoting Angela Ahrendts, senior vice president in charge of Apple Store, the site says the reason for the delay is because "kids go back to school in these countries [US and Canada] earlier than a lot of other countries."

As pointed out in the report from Apple Insider, this is a change from Back to School deals in the past. In recent years, Apple decided to give $100 worth of gift cards for Mac Purchases and $50 worth of gift cards for iPhone and iPad purchases. The shift has now gone on to giving actual products instead of consumable cash.

Beats Solo2 headphones are marketed for its excellent sound quality and noise-canceling capabilities. It is also one of the few headphone devices designed to be compatible specifically with iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad.
