Google recently introduced its new budget smartphone line – Android One.

The tech giant showed off its new program of offering very cheap smartphones at the recent Google's I/O Developers' Conference. The new smartphone line aimed to target third world and emerging markets that cannot afford high end devices.

The new Android One smartphone will surely battle with the low cost iPhone 5C, which is the cheaper version of Apple's flagship phone.

iPhone 5C

Apple introduced the low cost iPhone 5C last year alongside the high end iPhone 5S. The iPhone 5C packs mediocre specs and features compared to the full-fledged smartphone of Apple. The handset packs a 4-inch screen display, dual core A6 chipset, iOS 7, 8MP back camera and 1510 battery life.

Right now, retail giant Walmart offers the16GB model of the low-end iPhone 5c for $29 from its original price of $49. The smartphone comes with a new or renewed two-year contract agreement. It seemed that Apple is clearing out the stock of the previous iPhones to make way for this year's handset coming in the fall.

Android One

A lot of Android fans rejoiced after Google announced a more affordable handset with a starting price of $100. For this new project, Google partners with India's famous mobile manufacturer Micromax in making the first Android One smartphone. The smartphone packs some of the essential features in a cheap smartphone such as FM Radio, Dual SIM support, microSD card slot and a friendly price tag.

According to Google, the Android One smartphone will cost under $100. The smartphone will pack a 4.5 inches screen display but other features are still unknown. Although the smartphone may not pack some of the latest specs and features in comparison with the Nexus devices, it provides a pure Android experience.

Because of the pure Android OS without customization from the mobile manufacturer, the handset has fewer pre-installed apps and bloatware and receives timely OS updates from Google.
