The Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is ready for rollout ahead of the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop to select Samsung devices in the market. These handsets include Samsung Galaxy S5, S4, Note 3 and Note 2. According to Breathecast, Note 3 LTE, Galaxy S4 LTE, and Note 3 Neo will receive the update as well.
To get the latest KitKat software up and running on those devices, users have to free up 285 MB of space and obtain a reliable Internet connection. They also need to make sure that the device is 100 percent charged.
To jumpstart the installation, a notification over OTA will pop up, prompting the users to tap the "Download now" button to access the "Install now" option. For a manual set-up, users can check for "Software Updates" under Settings and if the update appears, users can install it from there.
Android Origin reports that Android 4.4.4 KitKat update offers for the S5 have been noticeably low despite Samsung's promise of an all-out release. Galaxy S5 users from Verizon have enjoyed the update. Meanwhile, T-Mobile has been putting the update forward to less popular Samsung handsets like Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition.
Moreover, the site encourages users who were not part of Samsung's initial announcement regarding Android 4.4.4 KitKat to patiently wait as the tech titan might be in the process of sorting out logical release dates for other Samsung devices, especially the S4 Mini, S4 Mini Duos, Note 2, Note 2 LTE, Grand 2 and Grand 2 Duos. Latin Post added that the integration of the "TouchWiz" UI to these devices is naturally time-consuming.
The Android 4.4.4 KitKat update addresses bug issues and overhauls the S-Health tracking support for qualified devices. Improvements on weight, sleep, stress and coach are inbuilt. Also, users are now able to toggle the camera shutter sound on and off by navigating through the camera settings. They can also make emergency calls from the lock screen via a swipe motion.
Moreover, the audio break-offs in various Bluetooth handsets will no longer be an issue in the update. The notification panel was also repaired to accurately display the number of unread emails. The caller ID was also fixed to show the matching contact information. Aside from a wider selection of emojis made available, a refined artwork display on the lock screen is also something to fuss over.
