Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Galaxy Note 3 users on Verizon available now

Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Note 3 handsets started receiving its Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS update.

Droid Life cited one of its readers who claimed that the latest firmware went live. The reader even provided a screenshot of the OS update as proof.

It seems that the latest Kitkat OS update is currently available for download through KIES or the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant. For users to upgrade their devices, they must plug their smartphones to the PC using a cable, launch KIES and check out for the new update.

Surely, the Over-The-Air update will follow shortly. Once the OTA update rolled out, users will receive a notification. Tap on it, then follow the on-screen instructions. It's also worth performing a manual check under Settings > More > About phone > Software updates > Check for software updates.

As usual, the OS update will be release in stages. It means that not all Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphones will receive the update at the same time.

However, Verizon has not revealed that official change log of the update yet. Android Geeks stated that the improvements will be similar to the enhancements seen in other Samsung devices such as "immersive mode, cloud printing, color emoji support, white status bar icons, transparent status bar, new Location menu, or full screen album and movie art in the lock screen, updated Samsung native apps, improved Samsung keyboard, performance boosts, and security enhancements."

Last week, an unofficial Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS update emerged online. The tutorial and detailed instruction was posted on the XDA Developers Forum. The Android 4.4.2 Kitkat update for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 handsets was initially released in January. Sprint and U.S. Cellular immediately rolled out their own updates the next month. AT&T and T-Mobile pushed the Kitkat upgrade in the past weeks. Other carriers have confirmed the roll out of Kitkat OS update and will be released in May or June although concrete release dates remained unspecified.
