Nintendo has a bare-bones release schedule for the remainder of 2015, with the only major title coming out in December being "Xenoblade Chronicles X" for the Wii U. With no other product to take advantage of this coming Christmas holiday, the company has instead shifted its focus to its Amiibo figures by releasing a new commercial.

According to a report from Nintendo Life, the commercial is clearly reiterating what the Amiibo figures are and how their NFC technology works for both the New 3DS XL and the Wii U. This makes the commercial appear to cater more to fans who have yet to try using Amiibo instead of fans who have already amassed a large collection.

Reports came earlier this year that the struggling Wii U finally had managed to sell over 10 million units since its initial launch, indicating just how poorly the console was faring in comparison to Nintendo's portable 3DS and the Wii U's competition in the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

With poor WIi-U sales and no major game releases other than "Splatoon," "Super Mario Maker" and "Yoshi's Wooly World," Nintendo has instead focused more on its Amiibo figures, which have in turn become a big source of profit for the company. As stated in the report, Amiibo sell well because of their low price and because of their collectible-toy aspect.

The trailer itself doesn't really showcase many games using the Amiibo but it does give u glimpse on how the Amiibo are used on both the 3DS and the Wii U. The games that were showcased using the Amiibo were "Super Mario Maker" and "Yoshi's Wooly World" for the Wii U and "Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer" for the 3DS.

It also focuses on three major capabilities of Amiibo -- unlocking bonus content in video games, adding new characters to games and "inviting" characters to games.

The trailer then ends with the tag line "Discover the Power Inside," which is reminscent of the old commercial line "Now You're Playing with Power" used for the Nintendo NES and its accompanying magazine, Nintendo Power.
