Margaret Atwood's historical novel "Alias Grace" is getting a TV series adaptation on Nov. 3. The series will air on Netflix.

The trailer for the miniseries, which was released earlier on Sept. 8, begins with a narration, "I've been an inmate for 15 long years. If there's a crime, people want a guilty person. Right or wrong, it doesn't matter."

Alongside this are clips of a woman getting flogged and locked up in a cell. What follows are conversations between the same woman and a psychiatrist as he tries to evaluate her and get to the bottom of what truly happened.

The woman accused of murder has lost her memories but she's not sure if she wants to remember. The trailer continues with her accounts, revealing how her employers had abused her and how they were now both dead. She was convicted for their murders but the events will remain unclear until the series airs.

The series will have six episodes. It will star Sarah Gadon as Grace Marks, Edward Holcroft as Dr. Simon Jordan, Zachary Levi as Jeremiah the Peddler, Paul Gross as Thomas Kinnear and Anna Paquin as Nancy Montgomery.

"Alias Grace" was originally published 1996 and was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. The novel told the story of Grace Marks, a convicted murderer. She was taken out of prison to work at a governor's home and the minister hopes they will be able to eventually get her pardoned and released from prison.

What follows is Dr. Jordan probing into Grace's thoughts in search of answers.

Atwood's historical crime novel was inspired by the grisly story of Grace Marks, a 16-year-old Canadian girl who was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison for the murders of her employer Thomas Kinnear and his housekeeper Nancy Montgomery. The crime sparked controversy with people questioning whether Grace had actually murdered both people, or whether she was merely an accessory to the crime.
