'Agent Carter' season 2 spoilers: Synopsis reveals new plot details

Agent Carter ABC Family

The official synopsis for "Agent Carter" season 2 (as per Screen Crush) has been released and it immediately reveals which of the characters will be coming back as well as the reason for Peggy Carter's (Hayley Atwell) move from New York to Los Angeles.

According to the synopsis, East Coast SSR Chief Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) will be the one responsible for sending Agent Carter to the West Coast. She will be working under West Coast SSR Chief Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) as they investigate a homicide involving a body that glows.

Returning in season 2 is the Stark family butler Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy). She will also be introduced to Jarvis' wife Ana (Lotte Verbeek). It is explained that Carter will be staying in the Los Angeles mansion owned by the Stark family.

The return of Jarvis may also indicate the return of Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper). One new character that will be introduced is the SSR scientist Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin). It is heavily implied that Wilkes will be the man Carter will eventually marry, a relationship hinted at in the film "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

The synopsis also reveals that Carter will be dealing with corruption tearing the SSR apart from the inside. The investigation will only get more complex when Dottie Underwood (Bridget Regan), a Russian spy, returns this coming second season.

Lyndsey Fonseca is also set to reprise her role as Angie Martinelli, although according to Screen Crush, she will only be returning in the latter half of the season. The full extent of her role in the series is yet unknown but it is teased to be connected to Marvel villain Madame Masque.

"Agent Carter" season 2 will premiere this Jan. 19 with a special two-part opening, with the episodes "The Lady in the Lake" and "A View in the Dark" airing back to back.
