Netflix has confirmed a second season for its original series, "A Series of Unfortunate Events," and less than a month after the confirmation, news about season three was released.

"A Series of Unfortunate Events" was only released in January of this year but it has gained enough viewers that Netflix decided to renew it for another two seasons. The Netflix series is an adaptation of the novel series written by Lemony Snicket (aka Daniel Handler) and is comprised of 13 books.

The first season of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" featured eight episodes that covered one book from the series every two episodes. With the news of a third season, viewers have assumed that the Netflix original series will cover the entire book series.

To confirm the assumptions, Handler told EW: "The second season is laid out to be 10 episodes for the next five books, so it ends on 'The Carnivorous Carnival,' and the third season would be the rest of it."

"A Series of Unfortunate Events," is about the Baudelaire siblings — Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes) and Sunny — who became orphans after their parents passed away in a house fire while they took a trip to the beach. Ever since the tragic accident, their lives have been miserable. The Baudelaire orphans are forced to live with one of their distant relatives, Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris), who turns out to be pure evil.

Count Olaf makes their lives miserable, as he does whatever he can to get his hands on the siblings' inheritance. Each episode of the series is narrated by Lemony Snicket, which is played by Patrick Warburton.

Season 1 of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" is now available on Netflix. There are no set release dates yet for the second and third season of the series.
